Adoption FAQ's

We are excited you are considering adding a furry friend to your family! We are eager to work with you to find the perfect match! Below are some frequently asked questions to help you through this process. We understand you may be new to the dog adoption world. Hopefully these questions can be helpful to you!

 

Q. How can I adopt a dog?

  • You will first fill out the adoption application in it's entirety located under the "Adopt application" link at the top of the page. If there is a particular dog you are interested in please write their name on the application. Keep in mind that this does not guarantee the dog will be available. From there we will look over your application. If it looks like a perfect match has arisen then we will ask you to fill out an adoption contract. There will also be a home visit completed before the adoption is completed.

Q. What are the requirements? 

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old. You must fill out the application in its entirety. You must also be willing to sign an adoption contract. Most importantly you have to be able to prove that you are the perfect match for the dog you desire. And you have to be willing to devote your life to making that fluff ball as happy as he or she can be.

Q. How long does the process take after an application is submitted?

  • After you complete the adoption application we will send you an email letting you know the application has been received. We will begin processing the application, which consists of verifying the information and completing vet and personal references along with many other steps. It can take a while, so we ask you please be patient. You should hear back from us know longer than 5-10 business days. 

Q. Will the rescue ever come to my house?

  • Yes we will be going to your house on several occasions. The first will be to perform a home check before the adoption is completed. This to make sure your home is well suited to become a dog owner. Brave Breed Rescue, Inc. also has the right to visit the dog up to two years after the adoption. We will like to check in on our puppies and see how they are doing.

Q. Are the dogs vetted?

  • Yes. Before a dog is adopted out, they will be fully vetted. It should be noted that Brave Breed Rescue, Inc. does not spay/neuter dogs until they reach 6 months old. They will also go through behavioral training. Training will continue with a dog until he know longer shows any signs of aggression or temperamental issues. We will not adopt a dog out until he is behaviorally ready.

Q. What if I adopt and it doesn’t work out?

  • If you adopt and it is not a good fit for your family or the dog, we require the dog to be returned to Brave Breed Rescue, Inc.
